At McNamara Care & Support, we’re a small disability service provider committed to person centred support. Our team values compassion, integrity, and fun — we believe in helping people with disabilities enjoy life to the fullest.
As a Support Assistant, you’ll play the role of both mentor and friend, creating meaningful, personalised experiences for each individual we support.
We’re proud to be in the process of becoming NDIS registered and excited about what’s ahead.
Application Deadline: 23/4/2025
The Role:
Disability support work is both exciting and deeply rewarding!
As a Support Assistant at McNamara Care & Support (MCAS), you’ll play a key role in empowering our clients to live full and engaging lives. Your work will involve providing tailored support to individuals with disabilities, assisting with daily living tasks and encouraging active participation in the community.
Each day can look different, you might be attending events such as gigs, festivals, or markets, or enjoying simpler moments such as scenic drives, walks, cooking, movies, or games. The role is shaped by the personal interests of our participants, offering a dynamic and varied experience. We encourage our Support Assistants to bring their own hobbies and passions into the role, creating genuine connections and memorable moments.
The position also includes personal care responsibilities, and may involve working across a range of locations, offering flexibility and variety.
What We Can Offer:
At MCAS, we’re all about creating positive, meaningful experiences — not just for our clients, but for our team too. Disability support is a relationship focused role, and we understand that the right match between client and Support Assistant makes all the difference. That’s why we take the time to ensure compatibility, providing you with detailed client background, thorough briefings, and shadow shifts to help you feel confident and supported from day one.
Support doesn’t stop there. Each client’s team is led by a dedicated Team Leader who will be there to guide and assist you, alongside our approachable management team. Whether you need a quick chat, a check-in, or a bit of encouragement on a tougher day — we’re here for you.
We also apply our individualised, person-centred approach within our own team. As a small business, we’re proud to promote a close, supportive environment where staff wellbeing is a priority. You’ll never feel like just a number at MCAS.
And yes, we love to have fun too! We host regular team events every two months, from bowling and pub trivia to escape rooms, our social outings give our team an opportunity to connect and unwind.
We’re also passionate about growth. Our current Team Leaders and Managers began their journey as Disability Support Assistants and still stay connected to the work they love. At MCAS, we’ll support your development every step of the way.
What We’re Looking For:
Our clients’ needs, goals, and interests are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re looking for Support Assistants who share these values. Building genuine relationships is crucial in this role, and that starts with taking the time to truly get to know each person you support.
While experience and qualifications are welcome, this is an entry-level position. What matters most to us is your attitude and approach. We’re looking for individuals who are:
• Compassionate and patient
• Reliable and able to work independently
• Calm under pressure and adaptable to change
• Eager to learn and open-minded
• Personable, respectful, and non-judgmental
To be eligible for this role, you must either hold or be willing to obtain a current Police Check, Working with Children Check, and First Aid Certificate.
Please note: This role involves travel between various locations. A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle with child locks is essential.
