Senior Community Development Officer

Level 7 - $128,265.08 (incl $20,000 Port Hedland Allowance)

*Increasing to $132,595.68 on 1 July 2025

The Role

Are you passionate about regional community development and have what it takes to lead and coordinate the Community Engagement Team?

Can you build strong and positive stakeholder relationships while effectively evaluating the impacts of projects and community campaigns?

The Town of Port Hedland is looking for an experienced, professional leader to manage the design and delivery of the community engagement program to support the delivery of Town's strategic plans such as:

  • Community Development Plan, and
  • Access and Inclusion Plan.

In this role, you will leverage your experience in community engagement and development to actively engage with our community and implement innovative and effective engagement strategies to build positive relationships between the Town and its stakeholders. You will be responsible for leading the Community Engagement Team, supporting staff to respond to new and emerging challenges, and have a deep knowledge of, and commitment to implementing a collective impact framework.

Work Related Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in community engagement or development in a major company or government
  • Strong experienced in planning, delivering, and evaluating projects, events or community campaigns
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current 'C' class driver's license
  • Rights to work in Australia
