Location: Newcastle and surrounding area
Job Opportunity:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN) to join our team in providing exceptional care for a young person transitioning to high school. This role involves working closely with the individual and their family to ensure a safe, supportive, and empowering school experience.
About the role
Shift Times: Monday to Friday, school hours (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM).
Location: School setting.
Start Date: April 2025.
Key Requirements:
Tracheostomy Care: Recent and extensive hands-on experience with tracheostomy management. Ability to comfortably manage tracheostomy suctioning and tracheostomy changes were required.
Ventilator Management: Confidence and proficiency in operating and troubleshooting the Trilogy Evo ventilator.
Emergency Response: Ability to think on your feet and respond promptly and effectively to emergencies as they arise.
Adaptability and Initiative: A proactive approach to care, with the ability to manage unexpected situations calmly and efficiently.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with family, school staff, and healthcare professionals.
Reliability: A consistent and dependable presence for the young person during school hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide skilled tracheostomy and ventilator care throughout the school day.
Monitor and address the individual’s health needs, ensuring safety and comfort.
Act as a first responder for any health emergencies during school hours.
Work collaboratively with the family, educators, and school staff to integrate care seamlessly into the school routine.

- AHPRA Registration (EN, RN)
- Current Working with Children's Check
- Police Check – within 3 months
- Current NDIS Worker screening check
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Evidence of current flu vaccination
- Evidence of Covid vaccinations x 3
- Experienced in working within facility and/or in community environment.
- Australian Citizen or have full working rights in Australia
- Excellent communication skills
