Due to ongoing growth, we are seeking a capable and experienced Accountant to join team.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a hands-on qualified Accountant with a sound understanding of Project Accounting & Cost Control, WIP, Financial Reporting and ATO compliance. This role is central to ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting as well as supporting strategic decision-making across our construction and maintenance divisions.
Reporting to the MD, you'll work closely with the GM, Project Managers and our external advisors to provide timely and accurate management accounts, cash flow forecasting, oversee accounts payables and contribute to improving internal systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and manage financial reports including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Forecasting and WIP summaries
Analyse project budgets, track costs and report on job profitability and variances
Maintain the general ledger, oversee monthly accruals and perform timely Balance Sheet reconciliations
Prepare and lodge ATO, Payroll Tax and Superannuation submissions
Oversee accounts payable and ensure the timely processing and payment of invoices
Support monthly management meetings with financial insights and recommendations
Assist with forecasting, budgeting, marginal costing and recovery
Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting systems, and reporting tools
Provide clear financial data to management and operational teams to support decision-making
Liaise with external tax accountants and professional advisors as required
About You
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
Essential:
CPA/CA/CIMA Qualified (ideally 5 years plus)
Strong hands-on experience in Project accounting, project cost tracking and WIP
Strong Microsoft Excel skills; experience with accounting platforms such as Xero, MYOB, or similar
High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a hands-on, proactive approach
Excellent communication skills – able to translate financials into actionable insights for non-financial staff
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Desirable:
A degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience, ideally in a construction, plumbing or project-based environment
Mandatory Requirements:
Completion of a National Police Clearance
Required to be Australian Citizen or hold relevant Australian permanent work rights with no restrictions
