Remuneration package of up to $13,725 p.m.

• Salary range: $5081.10 - $5516.60 p.f. (+ applicable allowances/benefits) (Nurse Grade 7).
• 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading and 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Skills and experience

• Provide expert nursing leadership and coordination within an Indigenous health service community environment.
• Demonstrate awareness and understanding of culturally appropriate and safe care within an Indigenous community health service.
• Demonstrate high-level understanding of health care to evaluate the learning needs and develop strategies to address key developmental areas for Indigenous Health Workers and employees of the Joyce Palmer Health Service.
• Advanced leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and change management skills to ensure customer focused service provision amongst the multidisciplinary team.
• Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles) with demonstrated clinical teaching and facilitation skills.

Role requirements
Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

The Joyce Palmer Health Service is an integrated health service, a 15-bed hospital with outpatient and emergency department servicing a population of approximately 3,500 people. The client/patient group is representative of the diverse demographic profile of the Palm Island community.

The Joyce Palmer Health Service integrated health care team includes both Indigenous and non-Indigenous staff who support each other's roles in the health care setting.

About the location
Palm Island is home to a vibrant and expanding community. There isn't much traffic, the beach is nearby and the fishing is excellent. There is a neighbourhood pharmacy, general shop, butcher, post office, schools, and youth centre on the island. Residents frequently travel to the mainland to enjoy the entertainment and shopping options in neighbouring Townsville. The locals of Palm Island are incredibly welcoming and appreciative of the public healthcare services provided.

On-site staff accommodation will be provided for the successful applicant and flexible working arrangements are available.
