Open Minds is on an exciting journey and we’re looking for a passionate Lived Experience Lead to help guide the way. This newly created senior role marks our first designated leadership position for someone with a lived experience of mental health challenges. You’ll play a vital part in shaping recovery-oriented, peer-informed practice across our organisation and contribute to building a workforce culture that recognises and values strong, sustainable lived experience workforce.

About the role:
As the Lived Experience Lead, you’ll mentor lived experience staff, develop inclusive workforce practices, and help others understand the value of lived experience. You’ll report directly to the CEO of Open Minds, working with leaders across the organisation and sector to embed our Lived Experience Strategy. In this role, you’ll help build and shape a culture where lived expertise is embedded in every aspect of the organisation.
What we’re looking for:
- Personal experience of mental health challenges, recovery or as a carer of someone with mental health challenges.
- Experience working in a lived experience designated role, ideally in a senior or mentoring capacity.
- Confidence navigating organisational change and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills.
- A passion for educating and bringing people on the journey.
A Certificate IV in Mental Health or Mental Health Peer Work is desirable, but not essential.
