About the Role
As Manager, Lived Experience & Community Engagement, you will champion the integration of lived expertise and Indigenous healing practices into programs and services. You will work closely with advisory groups, stakeholders, and community leaders to co-design solutions that empower women and drive social justice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead & Elevate Voices: Facilitate and strengthen the Lived Experience Advisory Group and Aboriginal Women’s Advisory Group, ensuring their insights shape policies and programs.
- Drive Systemic Change: Develop and implement a Lived Expertise Framework that embeds lived experience into decision-making at every level.
- Build & Nurture Relationships: Cultivate strong partnerships with community leaders, advocacy groups, and service providers to create lasting impact.
- Advocate for Equity: Ensure that the voices of women—particularly those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities—inform and drive policy and service improvements.
- Be a Changemaker: Represent the organisation at events, in the media, and across advocacy platforms to push for meaningful change.
- Foster an Inclusive Culture: Ensure that every space is safe, empowering, and reflective of the communities it serves.
Who We’re Looking For
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Development, Public Health, or a related field.
- Lived experience of domestic, family, and/or sexual violence—your insight is essential in shaping the work we do.
- A deep commitment to social justice, inclusion, and feminist principles.
- Strong community engagement expertise, with a proven ability to connect, listen, and advocate.
- Experience working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with an understanding of the importance of cultural healing practices.
- Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build trust.
Desirable but Not Essential
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector.
- Fluency in a language other than English.
- Experience working with LGBTIQA+, disability, migrant, and other diverse communities.
