About the Role
As a Network Automation Engineer, you will be an integral part of a project team, working closely with the Chief Engineer and various infrastructure squads. Your primary responsibilities will include designing and implementing software components for Infrastructure-as-Code projects, integrating third-party infrastructure products, and participating in architectural design and implementation planning sessions. You will also be involved in code reviews, creating and maintaining technical documentation, and using CI/CD toolchains to integrate software components.

The Successful Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
• Essential Experience:
• Proficiency in Python for automating network tasks and developing scripts.
• Proven experience in network automation, including strong hands-on knowledge of Ansible.
• Solid understanding of fundamental networking principles (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, dynamic routing protocols, firewalls).
• Experience in managing, designing, and configuring large networks.
• Familiarity with Network Monitoring Systems.
• Ability to handle debugging and performance analysis.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with test-driven development, CI/CD pipelines (particularly Gitlab), and code review.
• Exposure to software-defined infrastructure projects.
• Desirable Experience:
• Working in Agile teams.
• Experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code (IaC) deployment.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Full Stack development experience.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud environments.
• Working with network monitoring and security monitoring platforms.
• Desirable Qualities:
• Proven ability to work to a project schedule and achieve successful client-focused outcomes.
• Strong communication abilities and able to communicate with clients autonomously.
• Security-first mindset.
• Positive attitude towards change, continuous improvement, and incrementally helping others.

Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus potential extensions
SFIA level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 5.
Security Requirements: Due to our client’s needs, candidates must hold a minimum NV1 security clearance to be considered for this position.
