About the Opportunity – Multiple Vacancies
As part of the City Operations Program, the Cleansing Team Member plays a vital role in maintaining the city's presentation through both planned maintenance and responsive services.
Your role is essential in keeping our city vibrant and welcoming. Our team ensures that Adelaide’s streets, parks, and public spaces remain clean, well-maintained, and visually appealing—creating a city we can all enjoy and take pride in.
We have multiple positions available across two dedicated teams, and we encourage you to indicate your preference in your cover letter.
Cleansing Team Member, Street Services
As a Cleansing Team Member in the Street Services team, you will primarily be looking after:
- Footpath cleaning
- Using petrol backpacks or hand blowers
- Emptying street litter bins
- Emptying catchpits
This team works between the hours of 4am – 1pm.
Early starts are essential to minimise disruptions to traffic, businesses, and residents – so if you’re an early bird, this one’s for you!
Cleansing Team Member, Essential Services
As a Cleansing Team Member in the Essential Services team, you will primarily be looking after:
- Cleaning public toilets
- Maintaining BBQs, street furniture and footpaths
- Keeping Rundle Mall looking its best
- Removing graffiti and scrubbing surfaces.
This team works between the hours of 5am – 7pm.
As this team takes care of the high-traffic areas and vital public facilities across the city, we operate across varied hours to respond quickly and efficiently, helping keep Adelaide’s public spaces clean and ready for everyone to enjoy.
No matter which team you join, you’ll be contributing to a cleaner, more enjoyable city for everyone!

We are looking for an individual who is after a role they can grow in (whether you are just starting out or looking for a stable career) and someone who is after an opportunity to be a part of the community they live in.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- The ability to work the shift hours provided above, as this isn’t a standard 9-5 role.
- General knowledge of the operational functions of cleaning in a workgroup is desirable.
- Experience in or willingness to learn the operations associated with the cleaning and waste management of the public realm.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- A team player but also self-motivated and happy to work on their own.
