This is an exciting opportunity to join the Electric Vehicle (EV) Kerbside Charging Team in the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) supporting the delivery of the NSW Electric Vehicle Strategy and the delivery of EV charging infrastructure across NSW.

  • Duration: Temporary until 30 June 2026 (with the potential to extend beyond this date)
  • Work Location: Parramatta Office location with hybrid / flexible working options available
  • Classification / Grade / Band: Environment Officer 8 Project Officer
  • Hours: 35 hours per week
  • Remuneration: Salary ranges from $112,444 - $126,861, plus super

The EV Kerbside Charging team is looking for a Project Officer to join our team. In this role you will be dedicated to delivering a first of its kind in Australia grants program that supports the roll out of public, kerbside EV charging infrastructure. This infrastructure is to be delivered in residential areas where private off-street parking is limited.

As a member of the EV Kerbside Charging team, you will be:

  • part of the team delivering substantial emission reductions from the transport sector and supporting the State’s objective to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
  • working with diverse and passionate stakeholders from the EV industry, local councils and NSW government agencies to support the adoption of electric vehicles and the successful implementation of the NSW Electric Vehicle Strategy
  • contributing to the rapid delivery of a world-class EV charging network that meets diverse needs across all NSW motorists, with particular focus on the ~30% of drivers who cannot charge at home
  • responsible for supporting the ongoing coordination and project management of grant applications, grant assessments and grant funding agreements
  • supporting the development and maintenance of key program elements covering monitoring, reporting, evaluation and research
  • scoping, procuring and managing contracts for timely and cost-effective projects to deliver program objectives.

About You

If you have a passion for developing and delivering exciting and complex programs, along with strong capabilities and experience in project management and stakeholder engagement, then this is the role for you.

Key Requirements

  • Understanding of contracts and grant management processes.
  • Strong knowledge of assurance, governance and operational requirements for transparent, fair and accountable grants management and delivery of government funds.
  • Project management skills demonstrating the ability to deliver agreed outcomes on time and to quality standards, and demonstrated time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem solving and ability to identify discrepancies or variances in financial and grant system reports, and take corrective action
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion and ensure effectiveness, accountability and transparency
  • Understanding of operational requirements for successful delivery of sustainability, transport, energy, climate change, resilience, adaptation and/or net zero emissions programs.
