What is the role?
The Program Planning, Innovation and Reporting branch sits within the Strategy and Performance Office. Our work is high-profile, fast paced, and delivers key program management and innovation outcomes for the AFP. We play a critical role in partnering with internal and external stakeholders to support organisational programs and priorities and drive enterprise innovation to position the AFP as an employer of choice.

As an Admin Project Officer, your role will be to support the effective delivery of programs and projects and align to the AFP’s Program and Project Management Framework (PMF). You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.
We are looking for collaborative, innovative and dynamic professionals to fill a role within the EPMO.
Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO): The EPMO is responsible for the provision of specialist program management expertise to support the successful delivery of high priority enterprise and inter-agency programs. The EPMO’s key functions include the collaborative development of key strategic program management documents as well as the best practice administration support through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The EPMO is also responsible for providing a deeper understanding of program’s design, status and delivery through regular reporting and governance mechanisms to Senior Executives and AFP Boards.
What will you do?
As the Administrative Project Officer, your key responsibilities include:
- Contribute to new challenges that show adaptability, responsiveness, initiative and resilience working in a dynamic, fast paced and complex environment.
- Communicate with influence with well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Help build, retain and sustain relationships, by engaging confidently and concisely with internal and external stakeholders that foster the development of deep, mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Support the Team Leader in high level administrative functions such as secretariat, reporting, monitoring, templates and process reviews and draft brief writing.
- Support BaU objectives, identifying and escalating issues to Senior team members and team leader.
- Manage incoming enquiries via the shared inbox
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to achieve outcomes in busy, challenging environment.
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Sound stakeholder engagement and communication skills to liaise with diverse range of stakeholder groups.
- Strong written and oral skills demonstrating the ability to simplify complex issues succinctly.
- Demonstrated experience in drafting Briefs, infographic reports and presentations.
Desirable Requirements
- Qualifications in Project Management or experience in a project team is desirable but not mandatory.
- Sound level of proficiency in Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and at times complete allocated tasks with limited guidance.
Additional Information
- This position is an AFP Band level 5.
- This role is located in ACT and applicants will be required to reside in ACT or relocate at their own expense
