ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you an experienced Underwriter with a positive attitude and passion for making a difference?

We are currently looking for a dynamic Senior Underwriter - come join our enthusiastic, innovative and inspiring team. You will be a cross-class underwriter, who will work closely with our Chief Technical Officer, National Underwriting Manager and Underwriting Manager on developing and delivering new products.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of underwriters, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment
• Provide guidance and mentorship to your team, promoting professional growth
• Collaborate with team members to analyse and assess risks, ensuring accurate underwriting decisions
• Stay updated with industry trends, regulations and best practices, and share relevant information with your team
• Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge
• Foster effective communication and collaboration between underwriters, brokers and other team members
• Implement and improve underwriting processes and procedures to enhance team efficiency
• Resolve complex underwriting issues and provide support in challenging cases
• Foster a positive work culture based on respect, trust and accountability

ABOUT YOU

• Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in underwriting with at least 2 years in a leadership role
• Experience in Property / ISR underwriting is essential
• Strong knowledge of insurance policies, underwriting guidelines and risk assessment
• Confidence in working closely with our Lloyd's binder partners
• Excellent leadership and team building skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
• Commitment to mentorship and professional development
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in underwriting software and data analysis tools

The head office of IIS is located in the beautiful Southern Highlands, an hour and a half southwest of Sydney, with an additional office situated in the Brisbane CBD. Opportunities exist in VIC, NSW and QLD however you will need to be willing to travel to our offices on a regular basis. Schedule to be agreed upon.
