Transport Officers (Truck Drivers) play a critical role in the heavy vehicle transportation of linen, clinical and non-clinical supplies to Queensland Health hospitals and health facilities across Queensland. As well as delivery, Transport Officers will load and unload supplies into heavy vehicles within Queensland Health Distribution Centres, Laundries and various destinations across the Queensland Health network of facilities.
What you'll do
You will:
- Work within the team environment to achieve positive operational and cultural outcomes.
- Be responsible for the manual loading and unloading of all vehicles using roll on/roll off trolleys, tallboys, pallets and/or roll cages in a safe manner.
- Deliver and collect handling units in accordance with relevant schedules, work instructions, procedures and policies.
- Operate all heavy vehicles and associated vehicles as required within Queensland Government Road rules and in compliance with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) this includes (not limited) licensing requirements, speeding, appropriate load restraint, tailgate operation, pre-operational requirements and safe driving behaviours.
- Comply with the organisation's policies on Heavy Vehicle National Law including pre-operational checks and fatigue recording keeping.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
- Holds a current Medium Rigid, Heavy Rigid, or Multi-Combination licence as this is a mandatory requirement, and must remain current for the duration of employment.
- Demonstrates high level skills in communication, both written and verbal, with an ability to understand complex instructions and the completion of required paperwork
- Has proven communication skills that exhibit a high level of customer service to Health Support Queensland's clients and workforce.
- Demonstrates ability to deliver, load and unload handling units in a busy environment while adhering to safe work practices.
- Has the ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to maintain healthy, productive relationships with other team members.
- Is reliable, self-motivated, flexible and a positive attitude.
- Has resilience and ability to accept and navigate change in a positive and constructive manner. Seek feedback where required with ability to learn from every experience.
