About the Role

As a Casual Locomotive Driver Assistant, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of rail services. You’ll work closely with Train Crew, Operational Staff, Maintenance and Terminal teams, as well as Network Control, in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. This role offers valuable hands-on experience, where you’ll assist in a variety of rail operational tasks while being supported by a dedicated team.

Your Training Journey

Initial paid classroom & practical training (38 hours per week).

Assist in various rail operational tasks, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will be:

Adaptable: Comfortable handling changing environments and challenges.

Reliable: Dependable in attendance, safety, and teamwork.

Eager to Learn: Keen to develop new skills in the rail industry.

Local: Residing in or near Greta/Newcastle.

Requirements

Ability to pass a CAT 1 Rail Medical and fitness assessment.

Current full Class C or higher Driver’s Licence (no restrictions).

Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

Basic computer skills

Strong literacy and numeracy skills to complete written assessments.
