About the Opportunity

As part of the City Culture Program, the Team Leader Community Wellbeing will lead a dynamic team focused on delivering projects and activities that align with the City of Adelaide's Strategic Plan. This role is pivotal in enhancing the wellbeing, resilience, and healthy ageing of the City’s residents through the development of community initiatives and programs that foster a vibrant, inclusive environment.

The Team Leader will also be responsible for managing the coordination of community impact grants and volunteer programs while providing high-level support to the Manager, City Lifestyle. The role also involves strategic planning, budget management, and evaluating the effectiveness of community wellbeing initiatives. Leadership and coaching will be key to promoting a high-performance culture and ensuring that all activities align with the city’s broader goals for community engagement and support.

The Community Wellbeing team are currently working on the following projects;

  • Design and implementation of new programs and community initiatives to support the City of Adelaide community to age well.
  • Establishing a Community Development and Wellbeing Plan for the City of Adelaide.
  • Supporting the wellbeing of the international student population through a variety of strategic partnerships.

The successful candidate will a have leadership style which is naturally empowering, supportive and collaborative. The Team Leader Community Wellbeing plays a pivotal role in in driving a positive culture within the team and encourage active collaboration with other areas of the organisation.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Leadership skills: Proven experience in providing effective leadership, mentoring, and support to build a high-performance team and enhance individual capabilities.
  • Community Wellbeing Expertise: Experience leading and working with the community to deliver initiatives aimed at improving wellbeing, with knowledge of positive psychology frameworks, social determinants of health, and ABCD principles.
  • Project Management: A track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget, particularly in a community-focused or public-sector setting.
  • Financial Acumen: Demonstrated experience in managing budgets, financial reporting, and using finance software to forecast income and expenditure.
  • Innovation & Initiative: Ability to apply best practice business principles to the development and delivery of strategies, programs, and policies, while monitoring and reporting on outcomes.
