Your Future is Energy Queensland

Energy Queensland, and our operational brands: Energex, Ergon Energy Network, Ergon Retail and Yurika, are at the frontline of progress. As Australia’s largest government-owned electricity organisation, we serve people and communities across the state and beyond.?

Here, you’ll help us deliver reliable energy solutions for our two million customers.

Join us as an Organisational Change Manager (internally known as Manager Change – Centre of Excellence) and amplify your impact.

Your Opportunity

As our Organisational Change Manager (internally known as Manager Change – Centre of Excellence) your ability to design and lead change will be key to Energy Queensland’s continued success and growth.

Based at one of our offices in either Toowoomba, Brisbane, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, or Cairns, you’ll draw on your ability to develop strategic initiatives to facilitate EQL-wide process improvement and change.

Reporting into the General Manager of Strategy & Enablement, you will be joining the Regulation, Risk & Strategy Division who are accountable for the EQL Change Framework. Within this, the Change Centre of Excellence (COE) function supports the deployment of key strategic and business initiatives to develop, deploy, and embed best practice organisation change frameworks and methodologies in a ‘hub and spoke’ model.

Here's where you come in.

As EQL’s Organisational Change Manager, you will establish, lead, and manage our change frameworks and methodologies. You are the pioneer of EQL’s Change Centre of Excellence and will develop our strategic change framework and implement toolkits and change methodologies. This is a highly autonomous role, where you will make independent decisions daily, with direction on strategic priorities received from the General Manager end executive leadership team.

As a high-level, long-term strategic thinker, you will:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small but high performing team. You will positively lead change, continuous improvement, and innovation, and encourage open communication.
  • Provide expert advice and training to the business on contemporary change management approaches, enabling process optimisation.
  • Advise on strategic initiatives and projects by identifying change-related capability gaps and improvement opportunities across EQL.
  • Develop strong customer and stakeholder relationships.
  • Develop and manage reporting tools to measure the COE’s performance and impact on EQL’s strategic objectives. You will identify risks, and develop recommendations.

With either a 9 or 10 day fortnight in place, the bottom of the salary band starts from $206,634 for 9 days and $233,498 for 10 days + 14.75% superannuation.

What’s On Offer?

At Energy Queensland, we believe in supporting every aspect of your career and personal life. Here’s some of what you can expect:

  • Get paid to play: Annual leave loading and salary sacrificing means more spending money in your pocket.
  • Need wheels: Novated lease options for personal use.
  • Flexibility that works: Flexible working arrangements, including up to 50% work-from-home options for applicable roles.

Explore our benefits webpage to see how Energy Queensland supports and empowers your journey.

What You’ll Bring

You will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in either Business, Change Management, or a related area, or you will hold equivalent demonstrated experience. Whilst not essential, it would be advantageous to hold post-graduate qualifications in business, management, or project management.

What is essential is your extensive (spanning at least 7-10 years) change management experience, where you can demonstrate leading the development and deployment of strategic change frameworks. In other roles, you have been a hands-on in establishing and driving change, and have the experience and capability to embed frameworks.

Additionally, you have skills, knowledge, and experience in:

  • Leading others, demonstrating your capability to build and support high-performing teams.
  • Project and initiative change management approaches.
  • Designing, establishing, leading, and managing organisational change functions in large public or private organisations. Within this, you are highly capable to develop frameworks and process, and can report on their implementation, providing advice to senior leadership teams and board members.
  • Driving continuous improvement and innovation within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Now thinking of what transferrable and soft skills you’ll bring with you, you will have:

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to adjust your language to suit your intended audience. You can present information confidently with senior leadership teams, industry and government bodies, and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to see the bigger picture whilst also ‘zooming in’ on specific details when required to facilitate quality change.
  • Resilience in the adapting to the rapidly evolving landscape we operate in.

What matters most? For us, it’s our values: We’re Safe – We Belong – We Grow – We Deliver. If you’re going to be a part of our team, these should matter to you, too.
