About the role
Join the Thiyama-li Family Violence Service Indigenous Corporation' as a Client Support Officer based in Walgett, NSW. Reporting to the Practice Manager in Walgett, this permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week) will be responsible for providing compassionate and practical support to clients experiencing family and domestic violence and/or sexual violence.
What you'll be doing
Offer case management and emotional support to clients
Assist clients with navigating the legal system and accessing support services
Maintain up-to-date client records and case notes
Collaborate with community organisations to coordinate holistic care
Contribute to the development and delivery of community education programs
Advocate for client needs and represent the organisation at relevant forums
What we're looking for
Demonstrated experience in a client support or social services role
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong advocacy skills for children, young people, and families.
Empathy, cultural awareness and a non-judgmental approach
Knowledge of local community services and referral pathways
Excellent time management, case management skills and proven ability to work under pressure
Tertiary qualification in social work, community services or a related field

A knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
A demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
