About the role
Keep Safe Traffic Management is seeking experienced Traffic Controllers/Team Leaders to join our team on a casual basis. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient flow of traffic at various worksites across Melbourne and Regional Victoria. As a key member of our traffic management team, you will play a vital role in protecting the safety of both workers and the public while enabling the smooth progression of projects. This is a casual position with opportunities for ongoing work.

What you'll be doing

• Safely and efficiently control and direct traffic flow at work sites using stop/slow signs, barriers, and other traffic control devices
• Monitor and maintain worksite traffic control plans and safety measures
• Communicate with site supervisors, traffic management coordinators, and other stakeholders to ensure optimal traffic flow
• Provide guidance and support to other traffic controllers as a team leader
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards
• Inspect and maintain traffic control equipment: Ensure it’s in good working condition and visible to drivers.
  Incident Reporting: Record and report any incidents or accidents within the work zone to supervisors and emergency services if required.
• Public Education: Educate the public on traffic control signs and safety measures, especially when interacting with schools or community groups.

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Traffic Controller or similar traffic management role
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with diverse stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to respond to changing traffic conditions
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Relevant traffic control qualifications and/or certifications

Requirements.

• Skills/Certifications: Comprehensive understanding of traffic dynamics, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills. Current Traffic Tickets to work in the Traffic Controller industry (Control Slow/Stop Bat and Implement Traffic Plans) and White Card (Construction Induction).
• Work Schedule: Traffic Controllers usually work Monday to Friday, but they may be required to work after hours and on weekends.
