About the role

The Public Trustee of Queensland (QPT) is seeking a dedicated Senior Policy Officer to join our Strategy and Governance (S&G) team, with a focus on Right to Information (RTI) and Information Privacy. As a Senior Policy Officer, you will play a critical role in shaping policy, ensuring compliance, and providing expert advice on legislative matters. This will include:

  • Lead the coordination of RTI and privacy-related matters, including managing access requests and privacy breach investigations
  • Interpret and apply complex legislation, providing clear and accessible advice to internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop, review, and implement governance and privacy policies that support organisational objectives
  • Prepare high-quality briefings, submissions, and reports for senior leaders and government stakeholders
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders to drive policy improvements and ensure legislative compliance
  • Contribute to complaints management and corporate reporting aligned with public sector governance requirements
  • Support strategic initiatives across the broader Strategy and Governance division

What we're looking for

You are an analytical and detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of privacy and governance. You bring exceptional written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to convey complex ideas with clarity. Your strengths also include research capabilities and the ability to navigate legislative and policy frameworks with confidence. You will have:

  • Experience in RTI, privacy, policy development, or legislative compliance within a government or regulatory context
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to draw accurate conclusions from complex information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical policy into clear, actionable guidance
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Experience working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to influence and deliver outcomes
  • A keen understanding of public sector governance frameworks and government processes
  • While not mandatory, qualifications in law, public policy, or related disciplines will be highly regarded
