Day-to-day requirements of the role:

This role will require the successful applicant to work alongside a director to meet key commercial outcomes and provide sound 'best practice' advice that can be relied on when making business decisions.

Day-to-day duties include but are not limited to:

1. Interpret, analyse, administer, and provide in-house advice on the law, with a focus on real property, mineral, and environmental law.

2. Drafting and reviewing Environmental Impacts Assessments (EIA) and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. Prepare settlement agreements and obtain the signatures of parties in land access disputes between exploration and mining companies and landholders.

3. Representing clients in mediation and arbitrations relating to land access disputes in the mining & energy sectors. Conducting mediations between stakeholders in the mineral & energy sectors.

4. Research statutes and previous court decisions relevant to cases involving real property law, mineral law & State Significant Development Applications (SSD’s).

5. Drafting and reviewing Environmental, Social Governance plans & strategies and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, regulations, corporate governance, and Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) Listing Rules.

6. Briefing External Legal Counsel

What we need from you:

Admitted as a legal practitioner in NSW (or other Australian State)

3+ years of post-qualification experience

Ability to prioritise and operate in a fast-paced environment

Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups

Strong business acumen in which you are able to make commercial based decision

A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with a focus on achieving outcomes

Management experience in the mining and energy sectors
