We currently have an opportunity for a Cemeteries Administration Officer to join our Infrastructure and Liveability Department.
In the role of Cemeteries Administration Officer, you will:
- Support and assist grieving customers through the bereavement process application enquiries in a professional, timely and accurate manner whilst being sensitive to circumstances and to grieving customers values and beliefs
- Coordinate administration and contracts for burials and memorialisation purchases within the Cemetery
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Meet customers on site to discuss memorialisation options
- Accurately record data, maintain accurate burial registers and mapping, provide statistics and assist in preparing reports
- Administer and assist with the preparation of relevant policies, procedures and terms and conditions associated with Cemetery operations in accordance with relevant legislation
- Assist with the preparation and management of the Cemetery budget within financial limits
- Identify and propose service improvements for the Cemetery ensuring efficiency, effectiveness and compliance
- Update practices and oversee implementation toward compliance with the Interment Industry Scheme
- Assist in applying for grants to support proactive cemetery improvement projects
- Assist with property team general administration as required
- You may be required to be on-call over Council administration closure period.
What we offer...
- Temporary part time role, 18 hours per week until 18 January 2026
- Weekly salary from $673.29 which is calculated on an 18-hour working week
(salary is dependent on qualifications, skills and experience) - Plus 11.5 % superannuation
What you'll need to be successful in the role...
- Certificate lV in Business Administration or an equivalent discipline
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with a wide range of customers
- Experience in handling sensitive situations and providing compassionate customer service, particularly involving bereavement, grief, or other emotional situations
- The ability to lead the planning and implementation of the administration of plans, policies and procedures within legislative requirements
- The ability to work independently without supervision and contribute to a team environment to meet the sections goals and objectives
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and records management database systems
- Excellent planning and coordination skills with the ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines
- Class C Drivers Licence.
