Temporary part-time

We currently have the opportunity for an Office Assistant to join our Waste Services team on a temporary part time basis.
Working at our Waste Services Depot in Minnamurra, you will provide administration support to assist in the efficient and effective operation of Council’s Waste Services.
The role of Office Assistant – Waste Services involves:
- Carrying out weighbridge operations
- Providing general administrative support, including answering phones, responding to emails, and managing correspondence
- Maintaining accurate records and files and managing office supplies and equipment
- Assisting with data entry and the maintenance of databases
- Responding to customer enquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Providing information to customers regarding waste services and guidelines
- Resolving customer issues and escalate complex problems to the appropriate personnel
- Maintaining a positive and helpful attitude when interacting with customers and colleagues
- Assisting with the preparation of reports related to waste collection and disposal data
- Assisting with the administration of waste diversion and recycling programs
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Waste Services Administration Team Leader
- Assisting in the streamlining of office procedures.
What we offer...
- Temporary part-time until 3rd February 2026 with the possibility of extension
- The hours will be 36 hours per fortnight to be worked in accordance with the table below:
Week 1 – Thursday and Friday, 7 hours per day
Week 2 – Thursday and Friday, 7 hours per day and Saturday 8 hours - Base annual salary from $33,524.04 which is calculated on a 36-hour fortnight
(salary is dependent on qualifications, skills and experience) - Plus 11.5 % superannuation
What you'll need to be successful in the role...
- Certificate III in Business Administration
- Experience in an administration role, including proficiency in MS Office and with databases and spreadsheets
- Class C Licence
- Cash handling experience including calculating fees and balance takings
- Experience preparing reports and correspondence
- Good communication and customer service skills including conflict resolution skills
- The ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines.
