Nursery Production Supervisor – Grow the Future of Our Urban Forest

Love plants? Passionate about growing trees for a greener city? - We're looking for a Nursery Production Supervisor to help shape the future of our Urban Forest. If you have experience in plant production, pest and disease management, and best-practice nursery operations, this is your chance to make a real impact.

About the Role:

You'll provide advice and expertise in a nursery setting to leave a positive legacy for the urban forest, the community and future generations. You're experienced in a high-volume nursery including propagation, stock inspection, record keeping and inventory, managing hygiene and supervisong people will set you up for success. Responsibilities include:

  • Growing and maintaining high-quality trees and plants to support our Urban Forest Strategy.
  • Ensuring the health and vitality of nursery stock, keeping them free from pests and disease.
  • Overseeing nursery operations, implementing modern hygiene and record-keeping practices.
  • Managing production outputs, irrigation schedules, and stock planning.
  • Supporting tree planting initiatives and contributing to green space development.

What we are looking for (skills, experience and certificates)

  • Qualifications in horticulture or nursery operations.
  • Experience in high-output tree nurseries, including large-scale plant production.
  • Knowledge and application of plant hygiene standards, including pest and disease management.
  • Experience in assessing tree stock quality, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Ability to plan and manage nursery production schedules, aligning with operational goals and planting timelines.
  • Experience in supervising staff or coordinating teams within a nursery environment.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety (OHS) regulations related to nursery operations.
  • Experience in managing nursery irrigation systems, including maintenance and troubleshooting

Pre employment requirements:

  • Driver's licence
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) (Previously known as a police check)
  • Functional Capacity Assessment

We offer:

  • Salary from $77,785.93 to $90,083.32 per annum plus super.
  • A temporary, full time, position to April 2027.
  • Flexible work and leave arrangements with a fortnightly RDO
