HSE & Permit Officer – 2/1 Roster – Mining Project

The Opportunity:

Our client, a leading engineering and project management consultancy, is seeking an experienced HSE & Permit Officer to join their site-based team in NSW. This role is an exciting chance to contribute to the development of a significant mining and processing operation, ensuring safety compliance and efficient permit management in a fast-paced project environment.

This 6-month contract on a FIFO 2/1 roster offers exposure to a large-scale greenfield mineral sands project, providing a unique chance to enhance your expertise within an EPCM setting. You’ll be working alongside industry experts, ensuring all HSE requirements and permit processes are effectively managed to support safe construction and commissioning activities.

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

Experience in an HSE Advisor role within the mining or construction industry

Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, permit-to-work systems, and compliance requirements

Previous experience conducting pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and safety engagements.

Certifications in:

Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (HSE/Permit Management preferred)

ICAM, TAPROOT, or similar incident investigation qualifications.

Working at Heights and Confined Space qualifications

Senior First Aid Certificate & White Card

Your Responsibilities:

Obtain, manage, oversee, and maintain all construction-related permits, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements

Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure all work is carried out safely and efficiently.

Participate in investigations for injuries, accidents, and high-potential incidents, ensuring timely resolution and corrective actions.

Facilitate HSE training, safety forums, and risk workshops to enhance the project’s safety culture.

Conduct daily Critical Control Verifications and area inspections to maintain a proactive approach to safety.
