As an RTO and Independent School provider, our programs cater for the needs and interests of young people, senior secondary school students in Years 9 to 12, the general community, third age learners, and adults with a disability in supported employment, training and lifestyle activities.
Due to expansion nationally and operational demand within our business, we’re looking for a Senior Industrial Relations Generalist to join our team. In this role you’ll provide guidance and support to employees and Leaders, applying intermediate level technical knowledge across a broad range of IR functions. Key focus areas include managing performance advice, policy development, providing leadership in case management/end to end process, case load management, Work Cover and Injury Management, workplace investigations, and the disciplinary management process.
Core Workplace Objectives
- Extensive experience managing complex investigations, including misconduct, behavioural issues, complaints, disputes and grievances within in a large, diverse and complex organisational setting.
- Analyse data and prepare professional high-level reports to identify themes, trends, root causes, and systemic issues at both operational and organisational levels.
- Provide high level IR advice and coaching to People Leaders and supervisors in accordance with IR better practices, legislative guidelines & obligations, sustainable outcomes and Company policy.
- Develop and implement IR related communications across the organisation.
- Contribute to IR projects by identifying improvement opportunities and providing business insights.
- Provide high level advice to the Management Team on Industrial Relations matters.
- Monitor and report on industrial relations trends and legislative changes affecting the business.
- Maintain accurate records of industrial relations activities and provide regular reports to senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with regional leadership teams and provide consultancy, support and advice to senior leaders, line managers and employees on a wide range of HR and IR matters.
- Provide daily operational support to the IR Team and the Head of IR & Risk.
- Support managers in the grievance and managing performance processes.
- Conduct formal IR and HR investigations and enquiries.
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers on IR and HR issues, contributing to the development of their leadership capabilities.
- Write high level reports that include monthly reports/investigation reports/IR Review and Advice.
Report on weekly IR Metrics.
- Contribute to the review and development of company-wide policies, procedures, and systems, actively participating in their consistent implementation.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, templates, and documents for key IR processes.
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and supporting the implementation and delivery of systems and processes across the organisation.
- Monitor and respond to HR enquiries in designated HR mailboxes as and when required.
For this position with our company, applicants must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources (or related field or experience), with knowledge and understanding of IR and HR principles.
- Have a minimum of 2 years' IR Generalist experience, with the ability to communicate and form relationships with all stakeholders.
- Demonstrate genuine IR Experience and a passion for IR.
- Have a solutions-focused approach and deal with issues and change in a proactive, positive, and dynamic way.
- Embrace change and a dynamic working environment.
- An ability to occasionally travel interstate.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, case management and priorities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
