About the role
Wajarri Yamaji Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC is seeking an experienced Heritage Manager to join our team in Geraldton, Western Australia. This full-time role will be responsible for managing and preserving the cultural heritage of the Wajarri Yamaji people.
What you'll be doing
Developing and implementing cultural heritage management plans and strategies
Liaising with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies and community members, to ensure cultural heritage is protected
Overseeing the execution of cultural heritage surveys and assessments
Providing advice and guidance on cultural heritage matters to the organisation and broader community
Maintaining detailed records and reporting on cultural heritage activities
Supervising and mentoring a team of cultural heritage officers
Advocating for the recognition and preservation of Wajarri Yamaji cultural heritage
What we're looking for
Significant experience in cultural heritage management, preferably within an Indigenous context
Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal cultural heritage legislation and best practices
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong project management and organisational capabilities
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as archaeology, anthropology or Indigenous studies
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders
Commitment to the preservation and promotion of Indigenous cultural heritage

SELECTION PROFILE
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
Intermediate knowledge and experience with Aboriginal culture and heritage, with emphasis on cultural competency.
Familiarity with heritage and Native Title legislation.
Proficiency in mapping tools such as Tengraph or ArcGIS.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for consulting and liaising with diverse individuals.
Strong presentation skills, with the ability to tailor communication to various audiences.
Proven ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders.
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to perform well under pressure.
Solid understanding of confidentiality and its importance in the workplace.
Valid WA ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
Must hold or be able to obtain a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in preparing heritage assessment documentation.
Knowledge of heritage-related legislation, frameworks, and practices.
Tertiary qualifications in heritage management or a related field.
