
Coronial Nurse Team Leader

Undertake team leader roles and responsibilities for a small team of coronial nurses, which will include (but not be limited to) leading coordination of daily tasks and duties, working collaboratively with mortuary team and the Indigenous Health Liaison Officers to allocate cases across the team, updating HR systems, managing leave and use of the Integrated Workforce Management System as required.

Specialist Knowledge
- Demonstrate critical thinking and reasoning, advanced problem-solving skills and expert clinical judgement.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge and application of contemporary nursing/midwifery practice and theory.
- Contemporary understanding of understanding of trauma, grief and loss theories and applying these within a trauma informed framework.
- Advanced Clinical expertise in clinical area with greater than five years' experience in an acute clinical care environment.
- Demonstrated ability to summarise, analyse and interpret complex clinical and medical information.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of practicing within a legislative framework.
- Comprehensive computer skills and demonstrated use of information technology in work practice.
- Skills and expertise in crisis intervention support.to distressed families.
- Proven leadership and training abilities in relevant clinical theory and practice to support colleagues and other relevant professionals.
- Proven skills in coordinating the day-to-day activities of a multidisciplinary team, including working collaboratively on case allocation and overseeing team planning to ensure consistent fulfillment of team functions.
- Understanding, or ability to quickly gain an understanding, of medico-legal terminology associated with autopsy examination outcomes and cause of death findings as well as the capacity to explain detailed and complex medical findings to family members.

- Liaise with statewide coronial counsellors to guide care and support of families experiencing complex trauma and loss.
- Model nursing leadership in coronial services through collaboration with others in the provision of policy advice on issues in relation to professional and clinical practice, education and research.
- Accountable for actively contributing to and monitoring psychological safety in an environment where staff are exposed to vicarious trauma, and proactively responding to signs of acute stress reaction in oneself or colleagues.
