The Opportunity
This is a great opportunity to work and learn with QBuild, the designated builder for the Queensland Government. We provide a wide range of services, from constructing new buildings to upgrading and renovating existing ones. We also assist in rapid responses to disasters and hazards to safeguard Queenslanders. Duties that you may undertake throughout the apprenticeship:
- Receive hands-on training by working with experienced painters on various projects.
- Learn painting skills such as preparing surfaces, mixing paint, applying it correctly, and finishing.
- Assess surfaces for repair, cleaning, and priming before painting.
- Assist in handling and storing painting materials and equipment.
- Follow safety rules to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others.
- Match paint colours accurately to meet customer preferences.
- Ensure quality painting work by maintaining coverage, consistency, and cleanliness.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and customers about project details and progress.
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Eligibility to work in Australia (Permanent residency)
- Completed Year 10 with a pass in Maths and English
- The ability to transport yourself and your tools to and from work/training sites. (Please note: a driver's licence is not a mandatory requirement)
- Willingness to obtain a Construction Industry White Card prior to commencement
