About the role

As the Trail Maintenance Supervisor at Yarra Ranges Council, you will oversee the inspection, maintenance, and improvement of the Warburton Mountain Bike Destination, ensuring its 160km of trails remain safe, enjoyable, and internationally recognized. You’ll coordinate maintenance activities, lead trail crews and volunteers, and support safety and emergency management. This hands-on role is perfect for someone passionate about outdoor recreation, trail sustainability, and community engagement. This is a full-time permanent position (38 hours per week).

This is a Band 5 role with a salary range/hourly rate between $78,146 and $90,979 per annum, plus superannuation.

Support work-life balance with a fortnightly or monthly RDO and hybrid working arrangements.

Experience and skills we’re looking for

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Experience in trail construction and upkeep, with a strong understanding of industry best practices and AusCycling trail rating systems.

Ability to lead and motivate staff, volunteers, and contractors to deliver high-quality trail maintenance and improvements.

Proactive mindset to tackle infrastructure challenges and keep trails safe, functional, and enjoyable.

Confidence in operating and maintaining trail equipment, diagnosing issues, and making necessary repairs.

Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, from riders and community members to council teams, ensuring a seamless trail experience.

Knowledge of asset management, workplace safety, and environmental regulations to maintain world-class trails responsibly.
