Key responsibilities include:
- Product Design & Development
- Assist in the design and modification of custom truck bodies, trailers, and associated components using CAD software.
- Conduct technical analysis to ensure the structural integrity and performance of truck bodies.
- Support the selection of materials and components for optimal strength, weight, and durability.
2. Manufacturing & Production Support
- Develop technical specifications and detailed engineering drawings for fabrication.
- Work closely with production teams to troubleshoot design and assembly issues.
- Ensure that all products meet Australian Design Rules (ADR) and relevant transport safety standards.
3. Compliance & Quality Control
- Ensure that all truck body designs comply with Australian transport regulations and industry best practices.
- Conduct quality inspections and performance testing to validate design effectiveness.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation for ISO quality management systems.
4. Project Coordination & Documentation
- Work with suppliers and subcontractors to source materials and outsourced components.
- Maintain up-to-date engineering records and technical reports.
- Assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assembly and installation.
5. Innovation & Process Improvement
- Identify cost-effective design modifications to improve efficiency and durability.
- Support the implementation of new technologies in truck body construction.
- Research emerging industry trends and technologies for continuous improvement.
Key requirements include:
Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Automotive Engineering.
- Qualification must be recognised as equivalent to Australian standards.
Skills & Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in automotive or transport equipment manufacturing.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes, welding techniques, and structural materials.
- Understanding of ADR, NHVR, and relevant Australian safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with production teams.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in truck body manufacturing or heavy vehicle engineering.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems, load-bearing structures, and suspension systems.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and performance testing tools.
