Junior Paralegal Admin Assistant
YHC Lawyers
Posted 20 days ago
Why this Role is Special
This role was created for law students seeking experience in a law firm - for those who want to know what it’s like to work on files, interact with clients and understand what it’s like to be a lawyer in a firm.
It suits law students as:
(a) first and second year law students are encouraged to apply - many of our team members were first or second year students;
(b) we provide comprehensive training for the role - new team members are always pleasantly surprised with the quality and detail of the training;
(c) the role is part-time - you can choose to work two or three days a week, and reduce to one day a week during exams; and
(d) we are seeking up to two junior paralegal admin assistants.
What’s Involved?
1. Take ownership of estate planning files from start to finish—client interactions, drafting documents, coordinating meetings, and making sure every client has a fantastic experience!
2. Completing our comprehensive training within six weeks and applying your newly acquired knowledge to our processes.
3. Continuously challenging yourself by learning new skills and creating business improvements. If you think learning a new app or changing our systems can create a better outcome, do it!
Availability & Commencement
Two or three days a week (you decide when we make the job offer), with the ability to reduce it to one day during exams.
Start immediately or at end of semester. The actual date will be agreed with the successful candidate.
You must also be able to complete your training period. The training period commences when you start. It lasts six weeks and is composed of:
(a) 5 days a week, for the first three weeks; and then
(b) 3 days a week, for the next three weeks.
About Us
We are a Wills and Estates Law Firm. We help people navigate the legal complexities around estate planning and estate administration.
We have been recognised by our peers in the Best Lawyers publication. Our firm has also been named in the Doyle's Guide as a Leading Law Firm for six consecutive years.
Part of that recognition is due to our belief in custom solutions for our clients and ourselves; so much so that we developed our own software which powers our practice.
While each of our directors has been in practice for 19-plus years, we still believe there’s plenty to learn and heaps of room to improve. We push ourselves so that we are always striving to be better than what we were yesterday.
For fun, we created this little behind-the-scenes clip on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/SmLtgywUMJw
Oh! And we like movies, tv shows and board games.
Eligibility & Ideals
We have three requirements for this role. You need to have:
1. a typing speed of at least 58 words per minute;
2. an appropriate Australian work visa or be an Australian citizen; and
3. availability to work full-time for 3 weeks, then three days a week for 3 weeks, before you start your part-time schedule.
Ideally, you are or will be soon, a first or second year law student.
