Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
New roles await
The Chief Commercial and Corporate Officer Division is responsible for the delivery of fleet vehicles, information management, mail, procurement, property and shared services. We also coordinate a range of Agency planning and reporting processes, as well as support a continuous improvement programme for the Enabling Services Group.
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about delivering quality business enabling services to fill multiple Assistant Director roles across the division in the following branches.
The Corporate, Information and Property Services Branch is responsible for the delivery of centralised corporate services across the Agency, including delivering and managing the Agency’s physical property portfolio, corporate services and shared services arrangements with Services Australia.
The Procurement Branch is responsible for partnering with business areas to procure goods and services for the Agency. We focus on applying the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPR), and NDIA policy to ensure value for money outcomes.
The Enabling Services Transformation and Improvement (ESTI) Branch is responsible for enhancing the delivery of enabling services within the NDIA. The Branch aims to improve systems and processes to provide a better experience for staff throughout the NDIA.

Assistant Director Corporate Operations
The Corporate Services Team supports staff by maintaining travel, fleet vehicles, mail and courier operation. They coordinate uniform distribution, oversee records management policies, systems, and compliance, and manage corporate contracts and shared services arrangements.
Responsibilities of the role may include:
- Coordinating planning, monitoring and reporting of projects, including cross-program activities with stakeholders, encouraging input and advice from subject matter experts on projects.
- Leading and developing capability of staff across Corporate Operations and establishing and improving existing well defined process workflows.
- Supporting development, managing and maintaining templates, policy and procedures to provide strategic direction.
- Partnering with business unit stakeholders, providing regular communication and updates.
- Preparing executive briefs, talking points and other written material.
- Managing the branch’s planning, preparation and engagement requirements across Agency committees.
Assistant Director Property
The Property Team oversees the delivery and maintenance of the NDIA property portfolio. They are responsible for managing leasing for standalone sites and co-located arrangements with other federal departments, managing site fit outs, and other capital works and coordinating property maintenance and repair work, site establishment, decommissioning and relocations.
Responsibilities of the role may include:
- Coordinating, planning, monitoring, and reporting of projects, and performing independent research work and analysis including the preparation of draft reports on relevant property initiatives
- Working in partnership with third party property service providers, property officers and NDIA business areas to maintain compliance with legislation and regulations including assisting with accommodation allocations within Agency properties, including other Government Agencies and partner organisations.
- Coordinating property activities with stakeholders, encouraging input and advice from subject matter experts, and providing regular communication and updates.
- Coordinating the NDIA Property Accommodation Plan, including all aspects of end-to-end construction project management, such as leasing, planning, design, approvals, procurement, delivery, and site handover
Assistant Director Procurement and Contracts
The Procurement Team maintain the NDIA Procurement Framework. They are responsible for partnering with business areas to source goods and services with transparency in accordance with the NDIA Procurement Policy, regulations and legislation; and supporting the business areas to undertake grant rounds in accordance with related policies.
Responsibilities of the role may include:
- Working collaboratively with NDIA business areas as a Procurement Business Partner, and managing a team to develop market approach documentation, evaluate tenders and negotiate contracts.
- Ensuring NDIA procurement activities are conducted in line with legislative requirements, the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) and the NDIA Procurement Policy.
- Delivering support and advice in relation to compliance with the Commonwealth Grant Rules and Guidelines (CGRGs), the NDIA Procurement Framework, and Agency policies and procedures.
- Ensuring NDIA corporate contracts are managed effectively and deliver value for money outcomes.
Assistant Director Business Improvement
The Enabling Services Team support the internal functions that assist staff in performing their duties and the operations of the NDIA. This includes continuous improvement and business mapping, aligning NDIA business plans with strategic priorities, overseeing governance controls and compliance, and supporting business areas in redesigning their business processes and structures.
Responsibilities of the role may include:
- Implementing Portfolio and Program Management, Governance, and controls frameworks which may include leading various business improvement projects to achieve future goals.
- Delivering the corporate plan and the annual report, interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the successful achievement of corporate objectives
- Enhancing operating model maturity, process improvement, and business transformation through the use of improvement frameworks for better business outcomes and change management to embed transformations.
- Facilitating workshops and meetings to define and understand problems to solve.
- Creating strategic communications plans and presenting content, including executive briefs and staff notices; this may include drafting business cases, plans, briefs, reports, and corporate documents.

Our ideal candidates can confidently communicate with both internal and external stakeholders across a variety of mediums, such as delivering executive briefs, internal communications; negotiating contracts or delivery of staff training, to achieve NDIA initiatives.
They will confidently lead a team to manage work allocation and delivery of quality outcomes, including managing competing priorities and resolving issues and/or risk across wide-ranging activities and projects in line with Agency goals and objectives.
The candidates will be outcomes focussed, excellent problem solvers, seek innovative solutions and actively contribute to business improvement strategies.
They are driven, resilient, and passionate about making a meaningful impact through their work and being part of a socially inclusive and culturally diverse workplace.
Relevant qualifications and/or experience working in the fields of corporate and property services, procurement, policy, project management or continuous improvement projects are not mandatory but highly desirable.

While this role is ideally performed from Deakin - ACT, Geelong - VIC or Brisbane - QLD, remote working arrangements may be considered.
We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
