Position Overview:
We are seeking experienced and resilient Mental Health Support Workers to join our team across the Newcastle region. This role involves working closely with clients who have complex mental health conditions and disabilities, many of whom require intensive behavior support, including management of verbal and physical aggression directed towards staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide person-centered care and support to individuals with complex mental health needs.

Effectively manage and de-escalate behaviors such as self-harm, property damage, and both verbal and physical aggression toward staff.

Implement behavior support strategies, including crisis intervention techniques, to ensure the safety of clients and staff.

Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized support plans.

Monitor and document clients' progress accurately and in a timely manner.

Foster a safe, supportive, and structured environment that promotes positive behaviors and healthy relationships.

Stay up to date with best practices in mental health and behavior management.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Proven experience working with individuals with complex mental health diagnoses and behaviors of concern.

Strong ability to manage and respond to challenging behaviors, including aggression towards staff.

High level of resilience, patience, and ability to remain calm under pressure.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work flexible hours, including active awake night shifts and weekends.

Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
