Wedding, Conference & Events Coordinator (Brisbane-based)

This could be the best M.I.C.E opportunity currently on offer in Brisbane, and roles of this nature do not come up often. Tangalooma Island Resort is currently recruiting for a new Wedding, Conference & Events Coordinator to join our small high-performance Conference & Events team. Reporting to the Director Business Events, this role will be based out of our Brisbane head office in Eagle Farm.

Salary for this role is $55k-$64k + Super (dependent on experience).

Who are we looking for?

You have an incredible work ethic. A can-do attitude that positively adapts to the rapid pace of delivery and change

You are passionate about what you do and take great pride in the work you deliver, the attention to detail, and the results they generate

You think two steps ahead to predict and smash through roadblocks to get the job done

You are a good communicator, influencer, and team player (your internal stakeholders are just as much your customer as the actual guests)

You want to work somewhere unique – the range of event possibilities at Tangalooma is enormous and no two events will ever be the same.

What we need you to do in the role

Play a vital and flexible support role to the Director Business Events to achieve departmental KPIs and milestones.

Proactively drive sales to ensure conversion and upsell targets are achieved and exceeded.

Build & maintain strong relationships with key internal and supplier stakeholders.

Work directly with potential clients to gather event requirements, deliver quotations, and convert weddings, conference and events enquiries into sales.

Liaise and coordinate with the Resort operations team to ensure all aspects are delivered of the relevant events and functions. As such you will need to also proactively influence the ongoing development and improvement of Weddings/Conference & Events delivery.

Host site inspections and client famils as required and go the extra mile in your post-event follow up.

You will occasionally be required to travel to host clients, VIPs, host clients, VIPs, and trade partners on resort familiarisation tours. The very nature of such hosting will sometimes require you to work flexible hours including weekend and overnight work. If this poses a problem for you - please do not apply.

The must-haves

If you can't meet the following criteria you will not be shortlisted:

Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar role. You have previous successful sales experience, coupled with hotel experience or hospitality training in Conference & Events.

Strong administration, customer service and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite essential.

Excellent communication skills and professional telephone manner. You have a friendly, outgoing personality and a high standard of personal presentation.

Full unrestricted Australian Work Permits and residency

You must be able to work full-time based at our Eagle Farm head office and have your own reliable transportation and full Australian drivers licence to do so.

You will be required to travel to the resort to assist in the delivery of events, and to also host clients, VIPs, and trade partners on resort familiarisation tours. The very nature of such hosting will sometimes require you to work flexible hours including weekend and overnight work. If this poses a problem for you - please do not apply.
