The Stewardship Officer (First Nations) plays a vital role in restoring landscapes and embedding First Nations perspectives in land management. Your work will involve providing guidance, sharing knowledge, and connecting land managers with the right people and resources to care for land, water, and nature.
As the Stewardship Officer (First Nations), you will:
Work within our Stewardship Team to help land managers connect with people and knowledge to improve land, water, and nature management.
Provide education and raise awareness about cultural heritage and First Nations land management through field days, fact sheets, media articles, and presentations.
Contribute to the development of cultural heritage awareness and management protocols.
Support community education on pest plant and animal control, watercourse and dam management, and sustainable land practices.
Apply a First Nations lens to communications, including publications, social media, presentations, and workshops.
Work with the First Nations Partnerships Officer to build strong relationships with Peramangk, Kaurna, and Ngarrindjeri organisations and communities, involving them in landscape management decisions.
About You:-
You have experience engaging and working effectively with First Nations people and organisations.
You bring strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
You excel at building and maintaining meaningful relationships with land managers, communities, and stakeholders.
You have experience coordinating events, delivering presentations, and sharing knowledge in accessible ways.
You are skilled in collaborating with teams and working towards shared goals.
You have experience in cultural heritage, land management, or community engagement.

The Details:
One full-time (37.5 hrs/per week) position.
Two year term position available immediately.
Located in Mount Barker, South Australia
Remuneration:
ASO4 - $76,561 - $80,256 per annum

Special Conditions
This role has been identified as an Aboriginal role in accordance with Section 56 (2) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (SA) and Section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975.
This role has been designated a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework and requires a satisfactory National Police Clearance prior to employment.
Australian residency or current work permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
