About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Counter Manager to join our team at The Chop Shop on Mornington Island, Gununa. As a fulltime Assistant Counter Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations and management of our tiny but busy butcher. What you'll be doing

Assisting the Manager with all aspects of store operations

Providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive shopping experience for all customers

Overseeing the efficient and accurate processing of sales transactions

Monitoring and maintaining stock levels, and assisting with the ordering of new inventory as needed

Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the work environment

Supervising and training store associates to ensure high standards of performance

Ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations

Be fit and healthy – as the work can be physically demanding and require heavy lifting (up to 15kg), bending and standing for long periods of time

What we are looking for

Minimum 2 years' experience in a retail management role

Strong customer service and communication skills

Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities

Proficient in using point-of-sale systems and inventory management software

Bonus if you have rolled out a point-of-sale system before

Flat rate, above award - plus superannuation - based on experience

About us

The Chop Shop NQ is located on Mornington Island, Gununa which is in the Gulf of Carpentaria, about 444km north of Mount Isa and 28km off the coast of mainland Australia. The island is serviced by a barge weekly and is accessible by air.

Mornington Island is a first nations community, and the Lardil people are the traditional custodians for the land. The island is inhabited by the Lardil, the Yangkaal, the Kaiadilt people, the Gangalidda people, along with the many visitors and workers. Mornington Island is very much an intercultural community.
