About the role
We are currently looking for a Groups Facilitator to work within our Groups Team, who will primarily focus on programs for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) unpaid carers and the people they care for. This role includes some evening and weekend hours.
You will be the one of the first Carers ACT staff members that carers are likely to meet. Your personal presentation, ability to connect with people and enable people feel at ease will be critical to you being able to meet the aims of the program.
This position involves organising and overseeing group activities and skill development programs for CALD carers and the individuals they care for. The goal is to help them actively engage in the community, feel socially connected, and to enhance their overall well-being. The role includes coordinating, planning facilitating, and evaluating these programs, which aim to promote independent living, foster social interactions, and support the participants’ overall wellbeing.
Your duties will include:
- Needs Analysis: Consult and identify carer needs through stakeholder engagement, data review, and program feedback analysis.
- Program Planning and Promotion: Plan and execute diverse group activities within budget, ensuring engagement, while managing logistics and communication effectively.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Facilitation: Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, educate service providers, and refer clients to appropriate services.
- Service Excellence: Provide a safe and exceptional environment, respond to stakeholders promptly, and stay informed about available support services.
- Operational Excellence: Follow policies, provide feedback for improvement, maintain data integrity, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to reports.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Proven experience in group coordination and facilitation with CALD communities.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake needs assessments and match participants to group programs.
- Demonstrated empathetic and flexible approach to manage the sensitivities of carer issues.
- Demonstrated organisational skills with a strong attention to detail including forward planning, creativity and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to competently liaise with facilitators and service providers and other institutions.
- Flexibility with work hours including some evenings and weekend work.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workload.
- Strong commitment to teamwork and good practice.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision / direction.
- Intermediate to Advanced computer skills (Microsoft office & databases).
- Demonstrated understanding of privacy legislation and ability to work within these parameters.
- Drivers licence.
- ACT WWVP card (with NDIS activities if issued after July 2021) or willingness to obtain.
- Up to date with COVID vaccination (ie minimum 3 doses)
Desirable:
- Certificate IV in Community Services, Community Development, Event Management or similar with relevant experience
- Allied Health qualifications
- Aged Care experience
- Community Services experience
