Position: Chef – Little Bertie’s Smoker & Grill

Company: Bertie’s Butcher & Little Bertie’s Smoker & Grill

Location: 218 Swan St, Richmond 3121

Hours: 45 - 50 hours per week. Monday – Friday. 7am – 5pm. No Weekend or Night Work!

About us: We are an established lunch destination that backs onto Bertie’s Butchers, the oldest butcher shop in Australia. Little Bertie’s has brought the heart of American BBQ to Richmond for over a decade. Think smoked, slow cooked meats, brioche burgers and sides that will have your mouth watering. We are passionate about high-quality, sustainable, and flavourful food with exceptional customer service, and we’re looking for a talented Chef to join our team!

Job Overview: The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking our rotating American BBQ style menu, along with a variety of menu items for our sandwich cabinet and ready-made meals. You will be responsible for managing the kitchen and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. If you have a love for food, creativity in the kitchen, and a dedication to delivering outstanding dining experiences, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

● Prepare and cook a variety of dishes.

● Ensure that food is prepared and presented to the highest standards.

● Manage food inventory and order supplies as needed, ensuring freshness and quality.

● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.

● Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and efficient service.

● Assist in creating and updating the café’s menu, offering innovative dishes.

● Monitor portion control and food wastage to maintain profitability.

● Handle food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing, and seasoning ingredients.

● Manage kitchen equipment, ensuring everything is functioning properly and safely.

● Ensure proper food storage and handling procedures are followed.

Qualifications:

● Proven experience as a Chef or Cook, preferably in a café or casual dining environment.

● Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and food safety standards.

● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.

● Creativity and a passion for food with an understanding of current food trends.

● Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

● Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
