We are seeking a dedicated Compliance and HR Officer to support our school’s risk management and compliance. This is a part-time position (0.6 - 0.8 FTE) based at our Senior School campus in the heart of Hobart.
About the Role
The Compliance and HR Officer supports the School to manage risk and compliance by providing relevant, accurate and timely information and advice and support in the creation, adherence and maintenance to Policies and Procedures required for School Registration, and adherence to National and State legislation, including specifically child safety, WHS and Fair Work laws.
This role also provides support to teaching and learning staff in the preparation of risk assessments and in upskilling the St Michael’s Collegiate community in best-practice safety and risk management. The Compliance and HR Officer will actively support and promote the values inherent in an Anglican school, be highly professional in all aspects of the role and display proficiency in areas of organisation, communication, consultation and decision‐making. The incumbent will have a demonstrated commitment to Anglican education and children's safety and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and promote the principles of workplace health and safety in accordance with policy
Ensure compliance with National and State legislation
Maintain and review school policies
Provide or organise ongoing compliance training support for staff to ensure that all relevant people are trained on a regular basis.
Provide administrative support for HR tasks including onboarding and training
Oversee WHS processes and incident reporting
Coordinate facility hire and agreements
Key Selection Criteria
To be considered for the position of Compliance & HR Officer, applicants must address the following key selection criteria in their application:
Diploma in Work Health and Safety
Proven experience in WHS, HR administration, or compliance
High-level knowledge of WHS practices and compliance management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Proficient in MS Office and database management
Experience in policy and procedure development
Current Driver’s License and First Aid Certificate
