Our client is a regionally-based, globally networked university renowned for the quality of its student experience and research specialisations. With approximately 22,000 students, it offers a supportive and dynamic environment for both staff and students.
Your new role
The Work Health Wellbeing and Safety (WHS) Advisor will engage with university stakeholders to provide technical and practical advice and operational expertise in managing workplace health and safety and risk management activities and wellbeing programs. This role is crucial in administering the Safety, Hazard, and Incident Reporting System and for managing workers' comp, mental health and other staff wellbeing aspects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement health and safety processes, procedures, and supporting documentation.
- Provide technical advice and specialist knowledge to internal and external stakeholders in relation to health and wellbeing, including physical and psychological safety, injury management and personal health
- Provide expert advice and solutions on health and safety matters to executive and senior staff.
- Establish and maintain consultation mechanisms with management and staff regarding the Safety Management and Workers Compensation Systems.
- Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, Australian Standards, Regulations and procedures.
- Manage hazard identification and resolution processes in collaboration with the Health and Safety Manager.
- Coordinate and deliver training programs to ensure staff compliance with WHS Acts and Legislations.
- Generate and analyse reports within the Safety and Incident Reporting System to support safety and wellbeing strategies.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree with relevant experience, or extensive experience and specialist expertise in safety management or safety systems, health and wellbeing, injury management or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in WHS management and systems development and implementation.
- Proven ability to develop clear and concise written communications including promotional content, policies and proposals.
- Advanced computer skills and understanding of WHS software programs.
- High-level interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and client service skills.
- Strong organisational skills, initiative, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Desirable: Experience and training in Return-to-Work processes and qualifications in Project Management and Training & Assessment.
- This is a residential role and suitable candidate must live, or be willing to relocate or reside during the week, near Armidale, NSW.
