About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accountant to lead and oversee the financial operations in POS SaaS, payment facilitation, and light assembly manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have expertise in software revenue recognition, payment processing financial flows, cost accounting, and regulatory compliance. This role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, driving process improvements, and managing reporting requirements across multiple revenue streams.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Ensure proper revenue recognition for POS SaaS subscriptions, transaction-based payment facilitation, and product sales
• Manage financial reporting and tax compliance, including Goods and Services Tax (GST), interchange fees, and payment processor settlements
• Manage subscription-based revenue recognition for POS SaaS and deferred revenue tracking
• Oversee payment processing revenue, chargebacks, reserves, and interchange fees related to pay facilitation
• Oversee payroll for the Australian business
• Optimize cash flow by reconciling payouts, settlements, and processor reserves.
• Implement and enhance ERP/accounting systems (currently use QuickBooks) for multi-revenue stream tracking
• Automate reconciliation of payment processor settlements (Stripe, etc.) with the General Ledger (GL), regularly reconcile key balance sheet accounts, and investigate any discrepancies
• Work cross-functionally with product, sales, engineering, and finance teams to ensure seamless financial operations
• Lead audit preparations and financial due diligence for potential investors or M&A activities
• Create monthly projections and annual operating plans

About the candidate:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CA preferred
• 7+ years of experience in accounting, with a focus on SaaS, payments, and/or light manufacturing
• Strong understanding of accounting standards, revenue recognition, and payment processing revenue models
• Experience working with ERP/accounting software (NetSuite, QuickBooks - OrderTime, SAP, or similar)
• Knowledge of payment facilitation, interchange fees, and PCI compliance
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Excellent Excel and/or Google Sheets capabilities
• Ability to work cross-functionally and drive process improvements
• Hands-on and self-sufficient, with strong reporting knowledge

Preferred Experience:
• Experience in POS SaaS, embedded finance, or fintech accounting
• Familiarity with chargeback management, rolling reserves, and settlement reconciliation
• Understanding of supply chain finance and light assembly cost structures
