Mental Health Clinician - UMHCC

Position details

  • Part Time Permanent (0.8 FTE)
  • Classification: Health Professional Level 2 with a salary range of $91,706 - $102,613 per annum pro rata + Superannuation

About your new role

The Urgent Mental Health Care Centre (UMHCC) is a 24/7 service, providing an alternative to emergency departments for people experiencing a mental health crisis or distress. As an Allied Health Professional, the Mental HealthClinician will draw on their discipline skills, engage with guests (consumer), Peer Support Workers and medical staff, the guest's care team and support people to provide high quality assessments and interventions aimed at improving mental health outcomes for guests accessing the UMHCC. The Mental Health Clinician will have a strong emphasis on crisis containment and preparing the guest to transition home with a safety plan. This work will focus on clinical assessment and collaborative care planning.

What you will bring to the role

  • Formal tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or Occupational Therapy
  • Current full registration as a Psychologist or Occupational Therapist with current annual practicing certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) essential, OR a Social Worker eligible to hold membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Demonstrated skill in the application of recovery-based approaches in a clinical setting
  • A minimum of two years' experience working across a range of mental health programs including completing risk assessments and safety planning
  • Demonstrated ability to form and nurture partnerships with government and non-government mental health, emergency, and community service providers
  • All staff are required to adhere to the UMHCC immunisation policy directives to minimise the risk of vaccine preventable diseases to protect workers, other employees, guests, and visitors.
