The Role

If so, you might be the person we are looking for to perform the role of Assistant Director Quality Management within the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Regulatory Design (NPSRD) team.
The Assistant Director Quality Management is responsible for driving the development and delivery of a range of quality management functions, including:
- Implementing and maintaining the future Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety Regulator (ANNPSR) Integrated Management System (IMS);
- Coordinating the quality internal audit program and monitoring continuous improvement; and
- Promoting quality initiatives and driving a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
The Assistant Director Quality Management will ensure that all quality management policies and systems are aligned to strategic priorities. This includes delivery and subsequent enhancement of the future ANNPSR IMS, which will align to the required ISO standards.
To be considered for this role you will have proven knowledge and experience in successfully developing and managing an ISO compliant IMS. Qualifications in lead auditing and quality management together with experience managing an ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) and IMS would be advantageous.
You will have excellent organisational skills with a proven record of accomplishment for delivering high-level results, and extensive experience in supporting organisational and operational change programs in a complex operating environment.
Due to the unique workplace context and sensitive work undertaken, candidates may be required to undergo additional suitability screening or assessments.
Whilst this position has been advertised through Department of Defence, in line with the announcement made by the Australian Government on 14 Mar 23, this position will move to a new Statutory Agency with an effective date yet to be confirmed.

As an EL 1 Assistant Director Quality Management you will be required to demonstrate a range of skills, however the specific competencies below are considered critical to success within the NPSRD team.
- Apply expertise and technology – Ability to develop high-level Risk Management strategies and associated artefacts.
- Decide and initiate action – Take responsibility, take calculated risks, take initiative and generate activity.
- Analyse – Analyse information, probe for clarity, produce solutions, make judgements and think systematically.
- Write and report – write clearly and succinctly, avoid jargon, be convincing through writing and structure information appropriately.
- Relate and network – build and sustain relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
