The Role

This consultancy is seeking an Associate / Principal Structural Engineer to join the Buildings team in their Sydney office. The role will be suitable for a structural design expert experienced in building projects. they are currently working on a wide range of health care, commercial, residential, industrial and educational building projects

In this role, you will be a technical and business leader within the structural section and will be able to influence the design and project delivery of all projects assigned to you. You will be able to work independently on a wide range of projects with an ability to manage workload on several projects at different stages of completion. In this role, apart from utilising your technical expertise, you will be client facing, involved in developing new business, networking, and managing stakeholders.

The Responsibilities

Technical:

• Strong knowledge of structural design principles and Australian Building Codes
• Experience in value management, technical reports, and design concepts
• Proficient in engineering design software (ETABS, SAFE, Bentley Structural)
• Expertise in various design areas (steel, concrete, timber, etc.)
• Skilled in complex analysis models and problem-solving

People Leadership:

• Lead teams to deliver complex projects across NSW
• Ensure successful project delivery and client outcomes
• Collaborate with architects and developers to add value
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to business development

Project:

• Ensure deliverables meet client objectives
• Monitor progress and maintain quality results
• Manage technical risks, safety, and value engineering
• Provide guidance and coordinate with stakeholders
• Understand Design Builder Practitioner regulations

The Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Structural or Civil Engineering;
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience within an Engineering Consultancy;
• Strong understanding of structures, materials and construction;
• Strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards and National Construction Code;
• Experience in managing and coordinating multi-disciplinary project teams;
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate information of a complex nature both verbally and in writing with all stakeholders across disciplines including colleagues and clients;
• A personable work approach, and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
