The WHS Specialist will play a pivotal role in promoting safety compliance and continuous improvement throughout the business unit. Location: Sydney

Travel to multiple site locations across NSW; Greenacre, Baulkham Hills, Armidale, Bateau Bay, Maroubra, Mosman, Tamworth, North Rocks, St Ives, Kempsey, Sutherland, Waratah, Seaforth, Bankstown, Dural, Queens Park, Willoughby, Greenacre

Our client is seeking a dedicated Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Specialist to join their team. This role offers an attractive salary package of $115k + super + 20% bonus, based in the vibrant city of Sydney. The WHS Specialist will play a pivotal role in promoting safety compliance and continuous improvement throughout the business unit. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a minimum of 3 years experience in Occupational Health and Safety, ideally within a health services/Aged Care/Social Assistance environment.

  • Based in Sydney
  • Minimum 18months - 3 years experience in Occupational Health and Safety required

What you'll do:

As a Workplace Health and Safety Specialist, you will be instrumental in ensuring the health and safety of all employees. Your role will involve providing technical expertise, assisting in the design of safety operations, conducting risk assessments, developing training programs, supporting regulatory visits, developing safety communications, reviewing policies, facilitating safety champion initiatives, and contributing to report preparation. You will work closely with management to ensure a coordinated approach to managing WHS risks and hazards.

  • Provide WHS technical expertise and support to the business unit.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of WHS operations.
  • Promote consistency and synergy in safety management.
  • Conduct hazard inspections, risk assessments and WHS audits as required.
  • Develop and deliver education and training for staff.
  • Support managers in relation to regulator inspectorate visits.
  • Develop and disseminate WHS communications and campaigns.
  • Assist in policy development and review.
  • Facilitate Safety Champion elections, orientation and mentoring as required.
  • Contribute to the preparation of WHS reports.

What you bring:

As a Workplace Health and Safety Specialist, you bring a wealth of knowledge from your previous experiences. You have a strong understanding of the WHS legislative framework which you apply effectively in your role. Your ability to undertake risk assessments, incident investigations, conduct hazard inspections sets you apart. You are experienced in delivering WHS training that is engaging and informative. Your excellent time management skills allow you to prioritise tasks effectively. Your strong verbal communication skills enable you to convey information clearly and succinctly, while your written skills allow you to produce clear, logical communications. You have the ability to establish effective relationships at all levels within the organisation.

  • Occupational Health and Safety qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Understanding of the WHS legislative framework.
  • Ability to undertake WHS risk assessments, incident investigation, and conduct hazard inspections.
  • Experience delivering WHS training.
  • Strong time management skills including the ability to prioritise work and plan ahead.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong written skills to produce clear communications including emails, briefing papers, procedures, training presentations, manuals, risk assessments.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships at all levels within the organisation.
