The opportunity
Vacenti is seeking a Full-time Service Manager to join the Hotel Services Team at Portofino, Hamilton, QLD. Reporting to, and working closely with, the Facility Manager and/or Hotel Services Manager. In this role you will ensure that residents receive high-quality and safe services that enhances their daily living experience.
The Service Manager will oversee the hotel service function within the facility, managing various departments such as housekeeping, catering, laundry, kitchen, and general facility maintenance, while promoting a comfortable and supportive environment for residents. This role will work closely with various SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) to ensure high standards of service delivery in hotel services is achieved.
Your main responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Oversee and manage all hotel services including catering, housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance within the facility.
- Regularly engage in high level surveillance of resident dining experience.
- Provide training, support, and guidance to team members to ensure high levels of performance and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to enhance staff engagement and retention through regular performance appraisals and staff development programs.
- Ensure all employees adhere to departmental policies and procedures & follow the safety and OH&S requirements.
- Ensure services meet the needs of residents in line with organisational standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
- Coordinate service delivery with an emphasis on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and high quality.
- Regularly assess resident feedback to improve service offerings and address any concerns or complaints promptly.
- Work closely with the clinical care team to ensure that the hotel services are tailored to meet individual resident preferences and needs.
- Ensure that all hotel services comply with relevant legislation, regulations and quality standards including food safety, infection control, and workplace health and safety.
- Develop and manage the budget for hotel services, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services without compromising quality.
- Monitor and control stock levels, ensuring efficient use of resources and managing waste effectively.
- Participate in regular meetings, communication and reporting to key stakeholders, while keeping them informed of key developments, challenges and successes to promote transparency.
To be considered, you will need:
- Minimum certificate IV in Business Administration, Diploma of Hospitality Management or similar qualification.
- Must have Aged Care experience
- Reasonable level of spoken and written English literacy skills.
- Previous managerial or supervisory experience in hotel services.
- A current National Police Certificate.
- A personal philosophy of honesty and integrity, and practical approach that is compatible with the Vacenti values.
- Some knowledge of Aged Care legislation including the Aged Care Quality Standards and
- Proven team leadership skills and working knowledge of personal care and resident lifestyle requirement in Aged Care and continuous improvement, accreditation process, electronic housekeeping management systems and OH&S legislation.

- Has initiative and work independently.
- Can work in a busy environment and has good time management skills.
- Very high attention to details and commitment to safe work practices.
- Willingness to adapt to a rapidly changing environment, learn and cross train.
