Domestic Violence Counsellor & Group Facilitator (Men's Behaviour Change Program)

Part time, 4 days/ week (9 am to 5 pm) with one shift 12 pm - 8 pm

Based in Gosnells with group delivery at Gosnells and/or Midland

Position Overview

The Domestic Violence Counsellor & Group Facilitator role is responsible for delivering structured group sessions to men participating in the FAIR Men’s Behaviour Change program.

The role involves facilitating group discussions, promoting positive behaviour change, and supporting people within the program to address issues related to family and domestic violence. The group facilitator will work closely with other program staff to assess risk, provide guidance, and ensure the program is delivered effectively and in accordance with best practice. Additionally, the Group Facilitator will maintain accurate client records, contribute to program development and evaluation, and participate in ongoing professional development.

This role requires strong communication, empathy, and a commitment to supporting individuals in making meaningful changes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Clinical
  • Deliver professional, respectful, and effective intake and engagement services for men affected by Family and Domestic Violence (FDV), addressing immediate safety concerns and conducting comprehensive risk assessments.
  • Provide group facilitation according to RAWA Family and Domestic Violence Policy and Procedures, including the principles of confidentiality
  • Facilitate group sessions for the men's group programs
  • Facilitate partner contact with a clear emphasis on the associated risks and safety considerations throughout the process
  • Maintain required client intake caseload, and maintain records of partner contact, functioning according to RAWA Client Confidentiality Policy and Concerns for Client Safety Policy.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision sessions to support continuous professional development whilst meeting organisational requirements
  • Provide written reports when required

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualification/bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Counselling or other relevant areas (required).
  • Experience working in family and domestic violence
  • Knowledge of theory within family and domestic violence
  • Group facilitation skills, (e.g. socio education and therapeutic skills)
