The Australian Opal Centre (AOC) has an exciting employment opportunity for an Operations Manager as it prepares to move into a landmark new museum and tourism attraction at Lightning Ridge, north-western NSW. The AOC runs educational, cultural, scientific, membership and other public programs, manages a public exhibition space and museum collection, and is constructing an architecturally significant new facility on the Three Mile opal field on Yuwaalaraay Country, Lightning Ridge, scheduled to open in mid 2025.

The AOC is run by the not-for-profit company Australian Opal Centre Ltd (AOCL). AOC operations are supported by a small team of staff and volunteers. The AOC will expand its team over the coming 12 months and is looking for experienced, energetic personnel.

The AOC is seeking expressions of interest in the position of Operations Manager to oversee office administration, book keeping, payroll, building and facility management, retail, membership and customer relations, communications and other operational management activities. We welcome applications from people with skills and experience in one or all of these areas. This position will work closely with other personnel as the AOC prepares to move into an exciting new phase in its operations. It is a part time position (30 hours per week), with the possibility of additional hours and is based in Lightning Ridge. Salary Range $71,000 - $80,000 per annum pro rata (30hrs per week) and will be negotiated with successful candidate based on skills and experience.
