About the role
Townsville Catholic Education is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Project Officer Transition Pathways - Emerging Leaders Incentive Scheme. This role if a Full Time, Fixed Term role commencing 5 May 2025 to 31 December 2026.
The Project Officer - Transition Pathways: Emerging Leaders Incentive Scheme (PO TPELIS) provides coordination and support to Townsville Catholic Education (TCE) secondary colleges in their direction of First Nations student transition through careers, VET and pathways experiences a registered students of TCE’s Emerging Leaders Program.
Under the direction of the Director - Mission & Learning and managed by the Systems Learning & Teaching Adviser - First Nations Education, the Transition Pathways Project Officer will work with TCE’s Emerging Leaders Incentive Scheme (ELIS) Team to provide support on developing and implementing key strategies and goals towards improving transition pathways for First Nations students in TCE schools.
The PO TPELIS will liaise with the First Nations Education Services Team, the TCE’s VET & Pathways team, secondary school Leadership teams and VET Middle Leaders, Careers practitioners and wider First Nations Education staff. The role is one of partnership with the leadership of TCE and the community of principals in the integration and alignment of systemic and school community perspectives and priorities.
Key Accountabilities
- collaborate and support school & TCEO team in students: completion of Certs, Traineeships, School Based Apprenticeships.
- coordination of additional project funding access to promote completion of VET requirements, or additional courses or successful transitioning into post school pathways requirements through Emerging Leaders
- Data of graduates of the program into employment, or further education or training
- Tracking of students transition beyond school - promotion of, and connections to key industry employers in communities students transition/return to
- engagement with past graduates
- celebration of post school pathways and of success stories
- organisation of showcasing at EL initiatives and events.
- Work collaboratively with the targeted schools and the TCE’s First Nations Education Services team to support key strategies for improving student outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
- Work within the guidelines of Townsville Catholic Education Office Strategic Actions, policies and plans.
- Oversee administration support for senior secondary First Nations students pathways through the IAS Emerging Leaders Project.
- Work collaboratively with TCEO VET & Pathways team, secondary School Leadership teams, Careers practitioners, and VET middle leaders.
- Utilise data to track students to reach KPIs proposed within the Agreement and in turn articulated in individual School Improvement Plans.
- Use the Tracking and Academic Management Indicator (TAMI) tool to monitor students through senior schooling.
- Maintain internal QCE Tracking documents - in partnership with FNEAs and school staff assigned to complete, track and monitor senior EL students, and support/intervention plans.
- Prioritise First Nations Vocational Education and Training (VET) perspectives:
- Develop Year 13 Tracking & Transition Support:
- Alumni Development - creation of EL Alumni
- Coordinate and support schools and students in accordance with the project requirements.
- Documentation Support: assist school teams and students to obtain documents needed for successful transition to work or further study
- Attend professional development (PD) opportunities relevant to the role and wider program planning, review, and implementation
- Collaborate and promote school engagement with career planning and workforce exposure experiences, camps, and opportunities.
Mandatory Criteria
- Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government
- Tertiary Qualification in a relevant field
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
