We are looking to employ a solicitor with 1-4 years PAE to be part of our small but busy criminal law firm. This is a unique opportunity 2 hours from Sydney and 1 hour from Canberra for a candidate seeking advocacy experience en route to the Bar. Exceptional graduates would be considered.

The successful applicant would:

• Be confidant to immediately appear in Local Court proceedings;

• Possess a high level of resilience and emotional intelligence;
• Have strong attention to detail and superb written and verbal communication skills;
• Be highly motivated and sensitive to the needs of our often disadvantaged client base.

Your Role

• Management of your own client files and responsible for matters in the Local Court from start to finish;
• Appearance in the Local Court for bail applications, sentences and defended hearings;
• Appearance in the District and Supreme Court for mentions;
• Appearance in district Court Appeals;
• Instructing Counsel in trials and sentences in the District Court;
• Appearance in tribunals such as the Mental Health Review Tribunal and NCAT.
